Four Hundred Voices and One Messiah

December 2 2006

Christmas is coming and the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs are preparing for their biggest sing of the year. The annual celebration of music and Christmas is a celebration of all that’s wonderful in the human voice, community and the sheer joy of Handel’s music.

Part of the Messiah tradition at the opera house is the introduction of new talent and rising stars. This year it’s conductor Kynan Johns, He made his professional debut with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in 1997 and hasn’t looked back since. Now working mostly in the USA and Europe Johns returns for the big one.

Soloists this year are Teresa La Rocca, Wendy Dawn Thompson, Angus Wood and Joshua Bloom.

Don’t forget: tickets get snapped up early by the many relatives and friends of the biggest cast of the year, so don’t miss out!
