Musical Chairs on the Bus
Priscilla’s people announced yesterday this week (16/4/07) that Bill Hunter will step into the role of Bob the mechanic while Michael Caton takes a holiday from May 1 until May 13.
According to the press release this is the first of a planned series of guest appearances, clearly designed to keep public interest focused on Sydney’s home-grown major musical as it heads towards winter.
Bill Hunter was the original Bob the mechanic in the movie and he’s been a permanent fixture in Australian film and television for more than 40 years.
No announcement has yet been made about further guests although Genevieve Lemon will soon be leaving to take a role in Billy Elliot and will be relinquishing her mullet as the show’s major dag, Shirley.
Rumours that Alexander Downer has made inquiries about Bernadette/Tony Sheldon’s holiday plans have not been confirmed.
