Nightlight robbery at Sydney Opera House car park
Patrons of the Sydney Opera House’s various performance venues are not impressed by the recent hike in price for evening parking. Now up from $25 to $28, it represents a fairly eyewatering increase of 12%.
However, what really peeved a patron this week (and who then told stagenoise about it) was her belated discovery that there’s a $5 rebate for Sydney Festival ticket-holders. But there’s not a sign of it to be found anywhere around the House or the carpark.
A paybooth clerk told our informant, a Ms Cheezdoff of Wombarra, that she should have looked at the Festival website and, no, because she had already paid, he couldn’t give her the rebate even though she had her Festival event tickets in her hand.
So, be warned Festival-goers: collect your event tickets first and then pay for parking.
Meanwhile: what do you think of $28 on top of babysitting, a drink, tickets and (god forbid) a bite to eat? Do you get much change from a couple of hundred bucks? Do you mind? Is this the price we pay for privilege? Let us know.
