The New Prado
The Prado - the museum, not the Toyota 4WD - has just had a monumental renovation and it’s now open for business.
Madrid’s most famous and eminent art establishment now has a brand new modernist wing which has been five years in the building. At a cost of $A225,000,000 (yes, really) it has to be one of the wonders of tourist Europe.
Designed by Pritzker prize-winning Spanish architect Rafael Moneo, the new wing is the Prado’s first move out of the 19th century and lands them squarely in the 21st.
