Have you ever wondered why the subject of a portrait is looking out of the frame one way rather than the other? Have you ever wondered whether more subjects look right rather than left? Or vice versa?
Self portraits are easier to figure out ... maybe. The angle of the subject's head probably has something to do with the hand in which the painter holds the brush. And most people are right-handed. Then again, a higher proportion of creative people are left-handed ...
