Priscilla on Broadway
YES it’s going to happen! Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is casting now for a March 2011 New York opening, likely to be in the Richard Rodgers Theatre on W46th.
Tony Sheldon retains his pivotal role as Bernadette, the role originated onscreen by Terence Stamp but which Sheldon has made uniquely his own from the stage show’s beginnings in Australia (winning a Sydney Theatre Best award) to the West End, where he was nominated for an Olivier.
NYC West Side Story'sMatt Cavenaugh is likely to play Adam/Felicia, Guy Pearce’s role in the 1994movie; with Hair's Will Swenson up for Tick/Mitzy – played onscreen by Hugo Weaving. Originating stage director Simon Phillips remains at the helm to open Priscilla on Broadway.
