QUEENIE'S MASTER CLASSES. HURRY!

April 13 2010

MUSICAL THEATRE performers have never been in greater demand in Australia and we now have the enviable reputation of producing some of the best.

Phyllida Lloyd, director of Mamma Mia! on stage and on film, told me years ago that she thought her Australian casts were the best ever. If you saw the doco about the show on Seven the other night – mainly featuring the galumphing carthorses of the London production – you’ll know she wasn’t kidding. Not only are our divine Anne Wood, our hilariously wonderful Rhonda Burchmore and Jenny Vuletic and our sumptuously gorgeous Lara Mulcahy the absolute tops, but the companies of both productions have been (pardon me) shit hot too.

And now there are more and more musicals and more demand for the best skills. So Queenie van de Zandt, one of Australia’s leading musical theatre stars, is joining with some of the industry’s biggest names to give up and coming performers the training they need to succeed in the business – by really trying.

For a decade, while becoming one of our most recognized and adored and funniest singer-actor-comics, Queenie has been running workshops in Audition Technique for Musical Theatre. Many of her students have been cast in shows such as Wicked, Jersey Boys and Billy Elliot. She’s now taking this a step further and, in Sydney, over the next two months, Queenie is running an Advanced Audition Technique for Musical Theatre – Master Class Series.

There are also two other special Workshops about to happen for performers who want to extend their dance and comedy skills by working with two of Australia’s finest performers/teachers: Nathan M Wright – choreographer of Avenue Q and So You Think You Can Dance? And Darren Gilshenan one of the finest actors and comedic performers Australia has ever produced.

QUEENIE'S MASTER CLASSES. HURRY!

What makes these Master Classes and Courses unique is the elite standard of the teachers students get to work with. The Short Courses provide the first taste of Queenie’s series of Workshops and Master Classes, with more fantastic Short Courses led by the industry’s best creative artists scheduled for later in the year.
