Still suffering the despair of post-Phryne Fisher Syndrome? Well, you can plan to wean yourself off the absinthe and anti-depressants, hope is at hand. There are whispers on the wind from the deep south that a new series will be filming in Melbourne around February 2013.
The ABC's first 13-part series is now available on DVD, of course, and Allen & Unwin have released new tie-in editions of 11 of Kerry Greenwood's novels - all featuring the divine Essie Davis as cover girl. But, frankly, it's not the same as more Phryne!
Happily Aunty (and in this instance we don't mean Aunt Prudence-Miriam Margolyes) has noticed the public appetite for Phryne's adventures, and another 13 scripts are being written at this very moment!
Apparently the original cast will re-assemble - including Aunt Prudence, Dot (Ashleigh Cummings), Jack (Nathan Page), Hugh (Hugo Johnstone-Burt) and Mr Butler (John Bligh). The gold Derringer will be polished and loaded, and we can expect the series on screen by this time next year. And once again Phryne will be terribly fashionable, unmistakably glamorous and handy with that pistol. Splendid news, what!
