The Kid is rough around the edges and as clumsy as might be expected of a first major play. But it probably isn’t as rough or clumsy as this production suggests.
It is impossible to see how this telling of the story would have lasted and come down to us over the millennia.
Tankard’s history demonstrates that she never closes her eyes to a new possibility and will jump into the abyss rather than tippy-toe endlessly in safe territory.
How to tell the untellable? How to bear the unbearable? How to explain the inexplicable?
