Disenchanted: A Cabaret of Twisted Fairy Tales

October 5, 2019

Bondi Pavilion Theatre, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Bondi NSW 2026
Bondi, NSW

Fresh from a highly successful season at the Sydney Fringe Festival and tour of the Far South Coast, Eliane Morel (writer & performer) and Daryl Wallis (musical director & accompanist) make a triumphant return to Bondi to present you ‘Disenchanted: a Cabaret of Twisted Fairy Tales' for adults and children aged 13+, as the opening show (7pm, Saturday October 5th) to The Bondi Theatre Company's third season of comedy, musical cabaret and children's theatre, running from October 5 to 26 at the Bondi Pavilion Theatre.

Witty, musical and totally original, ‘Disenchanted’ transports you to a 17th Century Parisian salon hosted by the Godmother of fairy tales, Madame d’Aulnoy. Here you will be entertained, amused and aroused by fairy tale characters gathering to re-tell their stories – but with a few twists (often prophetically relevant to today): the Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood reveals his tender side; the Goose who lays golden eggs in Jack and the Beanstalk joins the Vegan revolution and the ugly sister whistle-blows on Cinderella’s dastardly housework roster… to name just a few who will tell you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the twisted truth.

Some reviews of ‘Disenchanted’ from the Sydney Fringe Festival:

“Sexy and subversive, audacious and hilarious.”

“Pitch-perfect comic timing and vocals.”

“Fantastic, original, hilarious… with a frisson of risk.”

“A dastardly modern and topical take on fairy tales.”
