ADELAIDE FESTIVAL & WRITERS WEEK 2020

By Diana Simmonds
February 26 2020

The Adelaide Festival 2020 officially opens this Friday – 28 February – with Requiem and Stagenoise will be reporting from SA for the duration. Festival artistic directors Rachel Healy and Neil Armfield (pictured above in one of the city's Festival artworks) have got together what looks like an eclectic and exciting program ranging across art forms.

Simultaneously over the first week, Adelaide Writers Week will be presenting daily tent shows and its artistic director Jo Dyer has also assembled a wide-ranging series of events and authors to go hear and see.

Looking forward to giving an account of Festival shows here on Stagenoise and also live on Arts Tuesday, Eastside Radio 89.7fm 10-30-12 noon Tuesdays. And the schedule includes... Requiem, The Doctor, Dimanche, 150 Psalms #1 – a Mirror for Today's Society, Mahler Adès, Cock Cock - Who's There?, Black Velvet, Bungul, Aleppo, Between Tiny Cities, Trois Grandes Fugues (Lyon Opera Ballet), Cold Blood, Mouth Piece, Breaking the Waves, Enter Achilles, Fire Gardens, and catching up again with Sydney's fabulous The Iliad Out Loud

Writers Week highlights (including reports from chief bookworm Suzi Whitehead) include Caro Llewellyn and her scorching memoir Diving Into Glass, Helen Garner, and Yellow Notebook; plus Chigozie Obioma, Blanche d'Alpuget, Christos Tsiolkas, Tyson Yunkaporta, Ross Garnaut, Jamie Susskind, HM Naqvi, Yanis Varoufakis, John Birmingham, Azadeh Moaveni, Tash Aw, Archie Roach, and Jung Chang - among others.
