Watch as you travel back in time, with the Prehistoric Aquarium. From jellyfish to ancient crocodiles, the Prehistoric Aquarium has all the main underwater dinosaurs, starting from the beginning of time. Engaging and informative, this show has it all.
The set design is amazing. The main thing on stage is a big white sheet that they use throughout the show, by projecting images on it. In the corner there is a small hatch which is used to get in and out of the onstage “tank”. Mix all that with great lighting and the stage looks brilliant.
The puppetry is incredible. Combine the astonishing looking puppets and your imagination and the dinosaurs really come to life. The massive Kronosaurus Queenslandicus, and the beautiful Plesiosaurus seem to be real, because of the unbelievably talented puppeteers. And they don’t just use the same type of puppets, they use a whole range of them.

One thing that really stood out to me, is that they involve the audience. They speak to you, include you in the performance. They also take volunteers onstage so watch out, you might be chosen to go in the tank! Kids will be laughing their heads off!
Katherine and Drew really make the show more fun. They’re funny and all the jokes are easily added into the script and aren’t cheesy. Katherine is a serious scientist and Drew is a comedic host.
The Prehistoric Aquarium is showing at Carriageworks until October 4 at 10am and 12pm. You can also sign your child up for an after-show workshop, making puppets. It’s recommended for 5+, and is great for mums and dads too. Informative and very entertaining, I loved The Prehistoric Aquarium and I hope you do too!
